a love song

caught up in formless memories of how we came to be
sliding through those somehows in an effort to break free
crazy situations that i never understood
warping and beguiling and then heating up my blood
and then for just a moment i feel an icy breeze
move a little closer and i’m begging of you please
remove the spells you’ve cast and i’ll choose my own track
if there’s any truth between us you know that i’ll be back
but while i’m in your power i haven’t got a clue
if i’m in love with love or if i’m in love with you

  1. I like the way this flows… seems all the verses “scan” 13 (not sure about the right terms to explain the meter, I’ve forgotten all I learnt about that in school, lol)… Perhaps to bring luck to the outcome?

    • The first line I wrote had 13 syllables which set the pattern, although, having progressed with the poem, I realised the first line didn’t work so had to completely rewrite it, however by that point the 13 was set. 😀

Excellent poem! Love the twist at the end. I think more people are in love with love than each other. 😀

ohai! Always that great little twist at the end. That’s what makes your poems so great to read. The last two lines are always the best. Villow, I’m mobile on my iPad and it will not let me play haiku with you. Your blog doesn’t recognize me so it will let me read but not respond. Loved reading all of the haikus on there!

I’m going to try and log on later. We have a motorhome like Teh Cween and are on our way (with 2 dogs and a cat) to Roanoke Rapids then on to Hilton Head tomorrow. Will hook up tonight at rv park with electricity. 😀
