the waiter

it isn’t what you said, it’s the way that you said it
if you don’t want me here all you have to do is say
i’m not into queering other people’s pitches
i’ll be off, and i’ll call you, come back another day
or judging by your face perhaps i shouldn’t call you
i’ll leave it up to you and you can give me a call
and i wonder how just long i will go on hoping
before i realise you wont be ringing me at all
