the hunter

by damommza & sunovawot

watching from my darkened window
to the street, so far below
rain has begun gently falling
I am trapped, no where to go

I’ve unplugged my television
taken bulbs out from the light
darkness is my only savior
safe within the blackest night

eyes can’t find me, where I’m hiding
hidden by this closet wall
soon the full moon will be rising
I will hear the demons call

transformation has begun and
though my eyes are turning red
I can see the future clearly
some are better off when dead

as horns grow though my matted hair
hooves appear where there were feet
shivering, I rip my clothes off
longing starts for human meat

smoke curls from distended nostrils
grunting sounds come from within
I can feel the hunger rising
now to let the hunt begin

from the window to the street is
nothing but a single leap
I can slake my darkest hungers
while the daylight dwellers sleep

this is when I feel my power
this is when I truly live
bringing to the foul, the tyrants
the only justice I can give

if you see me coming it’s too late
your soul will pay for your greed
as for your body, consider
the hunter deserves his feed

There is NOTHING so good as a fiendish poem early in the morning!! 😀 :-D. “The hunter deserves his feed”..such great ending lines..as always! 🙂

    • I knew, more or less, what I wanted the last line to be but it took some serious effort to say what I wanted without altering the established metre 😀

No matter what I write, I end up with an 8/7/8/7 or an 8/6/8/6. Sometimes I can hear the words singing in my head. 😯 😀

        • I find if I have enjoyed working on one particular pattern I tend to want to repeat it, something I try to guard against, sometimes not too successfully 😀
