misfortune

vanish, all could vanish in the blinking of an eye
shattering illusions with nothing but a sigh
words the way you use them like the flicking of a switch
could make the world anew and prove that life’s a bitch

and I can see your pathway in the road that leads to hell
though curses and damnations could take you just as well
and I can taste the demons that are riding ‘neath your skin
and I await in trepidation for your fightback to begin

nothing I could tell you would help you on your way
I’ve flirted with disaster but never chose to stay
the answer should there be one is far beyond my wit
you made your own misfortune and you must live with it

Excellent beats on this and the last stanza is the best. I’d love to rename this “Miss Fortune” because both type of “fortune” can easily lead you astray…. πŸ˜€

    • Thank you. The idea of calling it “Miss Fortune” never entered my mind, but “fortune” in the sense of “fate” is neither good nor bad, it’s just what is, so you’d need some pretty fancy footwork to miss it πŸ˜€
