jo

o, jo, it was an evening
such as I had never dreamt
you dressed in your finery
and me, of course, unkempt
you whispered to me stories
of life and love and such
and told me, not the first time,
that I really was too much
and I smiled and held you lightly
and sighed a happy sigh
as you kicked me in the ankles
and poked me in the eye
and I sang of bliss eternal
to the heavens up above
and wondered what I had done
to deserve such perfect love

What did you say, My Dear?
With your foot in my ear
It makes it so hard to hear
      so please be very clear
Would you still like that beer? πŸ˜€

              to comprend
              how your thoughts bend
              to what you spend
              when in the end
              all i have kenned
              is what you send
              to keep me penned

(dross is the scum that forms on the surface of molten metal, and, by extension, something worthless)

                If dross is naught
                and beer is bought
                and peace is sought
                and budgets taught
                and no wars fought
                then hug we ought! πŸ˜€
