I’m as young as the morning as old as the night
ridden off to war and backed down from a fight
I’ve championed heaven while damning to hell
decried superstition while casting a spell

I’ve walked through the fire and still I was cold
robbed men of silver and given away gold
I’ve played in the darkness and hid from the sun
I’ve given great speeches yet listened to none

and though my life passes at a glacial rate
and I’m chasing my fortune avoiding my fate
time is my enemy of that I am sure
for sooner or later we must balance the score

OH, this is a good one!! Love the contrast between each of the things you are and have done..”chasing my fortune, avoiding my fate” best line in the poem.

    • Thank you 😀 coming up with the first line set a pattern, the awkward part was deciding where it was going. And I, too, liked the play on “fortune” and “fate” 😀

  2. Seems like a balanced life already ! 😎

    • That could be, but the way I see this character is that it has all been done on his terms, and he’s worried that someday he may be going to get a swift kick in the karma 😀
