winter’s here

by damommza & sunovawot

while looking out through frosty breathe
on a cold midwinter’s morn’
the remnants of a misspent fall
dead leaves trampled, wet and torn

begin to fade to only white
while covered in frosty veil
if there’s some way back to my youth
let this snow highlight the trail

let’s start again with fresh green grass
and dew that clings to my face
and let my smile, both bright and new
be bathed in your loving grace

and fill my arms with sweet birdsong
my heart with a love so true
if earth itself, can be reborn
then please tell me why can’t you?

why can’t you sit beside me now
to share this tranquil scene
and fill once more that haunted space
where your love should have been

and when the spring comes to my bower
life burgeons all around
tell me then where you may be
and solace may be found

my thoughts may tumble like the flakes
from clouds so cold and gray
while I am left here sorrowing
for winter’s here to stay

I cannot help but say that that this is one of the best poems we have ever written. The ending stanza, as has on many of our poems, made me cry. πŸ™‚
